Paediatric Occupational Therapist

our services

Sprucewood engages the services of a paediatric occupational therapist, who contributes to the multidisciplinary approach by providing individual assessment, intervention and staff training. Support and coaching is also available for parents and new carers as the child transitions into their onward placement.

A child’s occupation is to learn and play, when this is effected by adverse early life experiences and traumatic events, the child’s ability to grow and develop is severely impacted, resulting in a child struggling to participate successfully in everyday life. Our Paediatric Occupational Therapist supports each child in developing skills in the areas of self-care, education and play, through the development of basic sensory awareness and motor skills and in turn this indirectly can have a positive impact on the child’s confidence, self-esteem, social skills and improves their general wellbeing.
