Sprucewood encourages the children placed in our care to be fit, healthy and active and promote their engagement in physical exercise and outdoor pursuits. Sprucewood has a close working relationship with an Outdoor Education Centre that provides access to a wide variety of physical activities. Each activity is designed to appropriately challenge a child in line with their Intervention Plan and promotes physical, sensory-motor, emotional and psychological development. Children can explore measured risk taking, up and down regulating activities in a safe and contained space facilitated by trained and experienced facilitators. Residential staff actively engage in activities and challenges with the children providing relationship and trust building opportunities and fosters a great sense of fun.
